Recycled with love

Noble Upcycling Woolies

Are you tired of stinky synthetic fabrics?  Fitteds and woolies might be the perfect solution for you!  These are the sweet  longies from Noble Upcycling. They are super adorable and made of 100% wool.  The added bonus is that they’re made from recycled wool sweaters.  These sweaters are transformed into beautiful pieces of art and they are all one of a kind. There’s just something comforting about having a natural fabric against my baby’s skin and I feel great when he’s strutting around in these cute pants!

Unlike PUL (Polyurethane laminate) used in most cloth diapers today, these are breathable so babies are less prone to developing a rash.  They are also cool in the summer and warm in the winter where as PUL tends to make babies sweat when the weather gets warm.  You do need to lanolize the woolies every once in a while but it doesn’t take much time at all. Diaper changes tend to be quick because you simply put on a fitted diaper and there’s no need for a cover.  Just pull on the longies and go!

Another great thing about these particular woolies is that they are made by a great lady. It’s a small business and the customer service is very friendly.  I love supporting smaller businesses and going home with something unique and of very good quality.

Here is a look at the way it fits on my 7 month old:

100% natural, 100% cute…:)

Pros:
- Natural fabric against baby’s skin
- Made with recycled wool (great for the environment)
- Adorable
- Affordable
- Great customer service
- Small business (Not mass produced)
- Cool in summer, warm in winter
.
Cons:
-They are all so cute, it’s difficult to decide which ones to get!
-They need to be treated with lanolin
.

Rock n’ Roll

Rockin’ Green Laundry Detergent

Lately, my diapers have a bad case of the stinkies.  When others hold my baby, I wonder if they think my little guy stinks.  It’s not him, it’s the diapers!  Quite some time ago, when I first started cloth diapering, things were going well for the first month or so, then, the stinkies began.  I wasn’t sure if it was something I was doing, my laundry routine or just the diapers themselves. The synthetic fabrics are the only ones that have this problem. (microfiber) The natural fibers such as bamboo or organic cotton smell fine.  So, after a few e-mails and a bit of research, I came to the conclusion that it was my detergent.  I switched to Rockin’ Green detergent and I also tweaked my laundry routine (I added rinse after the wash) and my problem disappeared.  For a while, I thought that it may just have been detergent build up and that my extra rinse solved the stinkies. When I ran out of Rockin’ Green, I decided to try a new detergent so that I could review different brands for my blog. Well, a few weeks after switching, my problem reappeared.  I had found my answer…Rockin’ Green was the reason my diapers were smelling squeaky clean after they were washed.

I really like Rockin’ Green for this reason…no more stinky diapers! They have formulas for soft, hard and regular water which is great for us since we have very hard water where we live. They are eco-friendly and come in 7 very interesting scents!  If you have some stinky diapers, trying Rockin’ Green might be worth a shot!

Pros:

- Keeps diapers smelling fresh

- Eco-friendly

- 7 different scents to choose from

- Different formulas for all types of water (regular, soft or hard)

Cons:

-Expensive

Have you tried Rockin’ Green?  What was your experience.  Feel free to share!
